One of my favorite restaurants is Ihop. The one I frequently go to is located on route 17 near Hasbrouck Heights, Nj. Ihop serves a variety of foods but builds upon their specialty: Pancakes. They provide a variety of flavors of pancakes including strawberry banana, cinnamon, blueberry etc...
They also serve the classic breakfast foods and lunches as well. Such as omelettes, sandwiches and french toast. This is my favorite restaurant because it has a homey, diner feel. Their food is really good and the service is usually exceptional. If this restaurant were to close down, I would go to a nearby diner instead.

They are beginning to utilize a device that uses vein visualization technology. This projects images of the veins by using near infrared lights. The infrared is used because our veins contain a chemical that absorbs the light and in essentially makes the vein visible in green.
With this new invention, doctors can escape from hurting patients in trying to find their vein with dreaded needles.

A new telescope has been innovated for further exploration into space. The "ALMA" is used to study formation of planets in a distant solar system. It will help better the understanding of the process. It is currently located in the Atacama desert in the South American continent, Chile. This large telescope is
16,500 feet tall and contains 66 dishes spaced across 16 km( 10 mi ) of the desert. The installation is uniquely suited for highly detailed images between the infrared and radio waves.
The image is of a star located about 450 light years away.

3. I can create an account an start inputting information that i've picked up and learned. Although wikis change almost everyday, its still very helpful to input information to help peers
4.I have not had much experience with wikis. I only utilize them to obtain information for a paper in one of my classes.

Blog Post Dareway
The new Dareway is the new segaway for children. Although a lot of parents are skeptical about putting children behind this toy, it seems like a very revolutionary toy. It costs about $200 and provides a great riding experience for anyone under 89 pounds. It allows balance by way of nearly invisible extra casters underneath to keep it upright. But it can hit speeds of 3.7 mph and kids are encouraged to customize the Dareway with included flame decals or catchy phrases.

Nikon D3200
The Nikon D3200 is a new SLR digital camera. It has bumped up to 24,2 megapixel format along with an impressive 921k-dot monitor size.
Like the previous model, they're both rather small for a digital camera. However it does have a large right-hand grip to make the camera significantly easier to hold. The camera is composed mostly of plastic but the quality of picture is better than most would expect for the price of the camera, coming in at a $476 as the lowest price.

So far in the school year, we've hit the ground running. It hasn't necessarily been a bulk of work, however it didn't take as long to get into the swing of things as far as homework, class work etc..
Along the way i've realized that some of my classes subliminally input technology. Classes such as U.S. History has started to introduce the recently released "Chromebooks." Well actually the school has taken the initiative to introduce the new laptops to every major subject (Math, Biology, History etc..) I see it to be efficient but at the same time a little on the unnecessary side. I appreciate the idea of implementing new technology but at the same time is it really needed?
In my U.S. History, Ms. Gavin is slowly but surely trying to persuade us to start utilizing the various extensive technologies that are out there. Recently she has informed us about the online textbook that we ca use. Although it requires a login and password, it contains a massive amount of ways to stay connected to learning about history. Especially in the age of technology and phone use,the online textbook allows you to download sound bytes of any section of the actual text book that you need. This allows you to listen to that section as if it were a song playing from your phone. So rather than reading it, you are being read to. Also you can download certain sections as PD F files to your desktop rather than having to get to the online textbook via the internet. All of this may not necessarily seem "exciting", however it is impossible not to acknowledge how easy and efficient this is.
Going into to the class, I didn't really expect to enjoy it because history itself was never appealing to high school students. However Mrs. Gavin is a great teacher. She teaches things through open class discussions and simple "easy to learn" power point presentations. She teaches to a point where students actually want to come to class. Her grading policy consists of:
Quizzes: 25%
Homework: 10%
Tests and Projects; 35%
Class Participation: 20%
Class work: 10%
She has also offered any missing classwork or homework on her website. This has offered no excuse not to complete any assignments. And it has provided a better alternative to asking friends for anything.
